J. Neil Schulman is the author of two award-winning science fiction novels, as well as libertarian non-fiction, short fiction, and screenplays.

His 1979 novel Alongside Night was praised by the likes of Anthony Burgess, Milton Friedman, Poul Anderson, and Dr. Thomas Szasz (who said it "ought to be... the Atlas Shrugged of the '80's") and in 1989 was entered into the Prometheus Society Hall of Fame for outstanding science fiction.

His 1984 novel The Rainbow Cadenza won the Prometheus Award for that year, and was praised by science fiction giant Robert Heinlein, Nathaniel Brandon, and Colin Wilson.

A new novel, Escape from Heaven, is forthcoming.

His 1994 non-fiction book Stopping Power: Why 70 Million Americans Own Guns dealt with the right to keep and bear arms. Charlton Heston called it "the most cogent explanation of the gun issue I have yet read."

Self-Control, Not Gun Control (1995) is a collection of essays on a wide variety of libertarian and libertarian-related topics. Walter Williams said "His ideas are precisely those that helped make our country the destination of those seeking liberty."

In 1993 he was awarded James Madison Award by the Second Amendment Foundation for his Los Angeles Times article, "If Gun Laws Work, Why Are We Afraid?"

His articles have appeared in numerous publications including National Review, Reader's Digest, Reason, Liberty, and the Los Angeles Times Book Review.

He has written for The Twilight Zone CBS TV series. He is co-editor of The Libertarian Enterprise, an online libertarian magazine.

Schulman is also a pioneer in the brave new world of electronic publishing. He was founder of Softserv Publishing, the first company in the world to distribute "paperless books" via personal computers and modems.

Today he is president of pulpless.com, an electronic publishing company which lets you download many books for free or for a small price. You can check the company's offerings out at www.pulpless.com.
