James Bovard - Libertarian |
||
|
Journalist James Bovard has written a series of remarkable political books and articles that have knocked the props out from under some of the biggest government policy frauds of our times. His articles have appeared in some of the nation's most distinguished magazines and newspapers, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Washington Post, New Republic, Reader's Digest and many more. Bovard is an Associate Policy Analyst at the Cato Institute. He writes a hard-hitting column each month in the Future of Freedom Foundation Foundation's excellent publication Freedom Daily. Books: Lost Rights: The Destruction of American Liberty (1994) -- an amazing, horrifying, outrageous, and, yes, entertaining look at how government is destroying the Bill of Rights and erecting a police state in America. Considered by many to be Bovard's best book to date. Crammed with hundreds of unbelievable stories, all documented, this book packs a wallop. Shakedown: How the Government Screws You from A to Z (1995) -- like Lost Rights, but shorter. Yet more outrageous, fully documented tales of run-amok government. Like the back cover says: "If it wasn't so scary, you'd laugh." |

Quotable "Americans' liberty is perishing beneath the constant growth of
government power. Federal, state and local government's are confiscating
citizens' property, trampling their rights, and decimating their
opportunities more than ever before.... American liberty can still be
rescued from the encroachments of government. The first step to saving
our liberty is to realize how much we have already lost, how we lost it,
and how we will continue to lose unless fundamental political changes
occur." -- Lost Rights.
