Peter Bagge - Libertarian

Find out YOUR political position ->

Peter Bagge is a renowned and critically-acclaimed comic book artist and writer, with a wildly humorous imagination and a unmistakable wacky cartooning style.

Bagge is probably best known for "Hate Comics," (1990-1998) which chronicled the misadventures of Bagge's semi-autobiographical character Buddy Bradley. Set in Seattle, "Hate" became strongly associated with the Seattle youth and music scene that generated world-wide publicity in the mid-90's. "Hate" has been optioned by Hollywood production companies for both television and feature films.

Earlier in his career Bagge edited the legendary underground comics anthology magazine "Weirdo," founded by comics giant Robert Crumb. His work has appeared in numerous publications, and he's also done record covers and other artwork.

The 43-year-old Bagge is currently doing a one-page strip in each issue of the libertarian magazine Reason, starting with their June 2001 issue.
