Richard Tafel --
head of the Log Cabin Republicans, a prominent gay activists'
organization within the GOP -- has stated his strong libertarian
leanings. TWN, a Florida gay and lesbian publication, quoted Tafel as
saying, "Though I am fiscally conservative, I would say that,
philosophically, I am closer to libertarian... in the GOP there has
always been tension between its libertarian wing and its socially
conservative view."
