Internet Politics Strongly Libertarian

A March 18th article carried by Reuters news wire service was entitled "Will A New Party Arise from the Web?" The article was by Charles Oliver. The story was subtitled: "Libertarianism Is the Politics of Wired Voters."

"[L]ook at those who now use the Internet," the article said. "Anecdotal evidence and polls show this group to be quite libertarian in its politics."

Quoted in the article was Wired magazine contributing editor John Katz: "[Internet users] don't like the idea of government regulation very much. They've got a remarkable enthusiasm for the free-market system."

Also quoted was Richard Brody, a political scientist at Stanford University: "There's definitely a strong link between the Internet culture and political libertarianism."
