Ron Paul to C-SPAN: 'You Need A Libertarian Line'
We've often been irked by C-SPAN's insistence on having three phone lines --
liberal, conservative, and moderate -- for its call-in shows. In addition to
leaving out libertarians, this just reinforces the idea that all politics is
some variant of left vs. right -- a wrong and misguided notion the Advocates
has battled for over a decade with our World's Smallest Political Quiz.
On March 10 Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas), our favorite Congressman, was a
guest on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal." When a caller expressed frustration
that there was no libertarian line, Congressman Paul looked at the host,
laughed, nodded in agreement, and said: "They need a libertarian line, don'
t they?"
We do thank C-SPAN for their ongoing coverage of libertarian-oriented
events, and for linking our Quiz page to their Web site. But we'd sure like
to see that libertarian phone line...
