Top Romance Writer A Libertarian
Karen Kay is a highly-praised writer of historical romance novels. Her
novels, set in the 19th century American West, deal with conflicts and
romance between Native Americans and white settlers. They are notable for
their rejection of "cowboys vs. Indians" stereotypes. Instead, Kay - who is
part Indian - has won the praise of critics and readers for creating
three-dimensional characters in a realistic, historically accurate setting.
Her research has taken her across America to visit reservations, spend time
with Indian leaders, and attend ceremonies and festivals.
Her novels include "Lakota Princess," "Lakota Surrender," "Proud Wolf's
Woman," "Gray Hawk's Lady," "White Eagle's Touch," and the upcoming "Night
Thunder's Bride." Kay is also a libertarian, with a special interest in
religious and psychiatric liberty. Incidentally, romance novels are big
business in the publishing industry - according to Publisher's Weekly,
nearly half of the paperbacks (48.6%) sold in the U.S. are romance fiction.
