Libertarian Celebrity: Best-Selling Novelist Nelson DeMille

Nelson DeMille is one of America's most popular novelists, with a string of best-sellers for more than a decade. He is perhaps best known for his novel The General's Daughter, which became a blockbuster movie starring John Travolta. His latest novel, The Lion's Game, is one of America's top 10 best-sellers.

He's published over 15 books in the last 25 years, many of which have been best-sellers. His best-known novels include The Charm School (1988), The Gold Coast (1990), Spencerville (1994), Plum Island (1997) and Mayday (1998). His novels include murder mysteries, international thrillers, and exposes of high society life.

On January 12, DeMille told Newsday that he is a libertarian, adding: "I think there's a strong libertarian movement [in America] towards smaller government."
