Poll: Americans Want Social Security Privatization
A new poll by respected pollsters Zogby International shows amazingly
strong support for Social Security privatization among Americans of
virtually all ages, races, and backgrounds. The survey of 1028 Americans,
conducted March 8-9, asked this question: "How likely would you be to
support Social Security privatization if it allowed you to take your Social
Security money and invest it in a retirement account of your choosing?"

Moderate 67.4% 32 %
Conservative 76.2% 23 %
Very Conservative 64.5% 32.8%
Not Sure 66.9% 30.4%
By Gender:
Male 70.8% 28.8%
Female 66.8% 31.7%
Similarly high support for the idea was found across the board in such
categories as region, political party, age group (ages 18-29 favored it
95.9%!) and education level. The only group that opposed the idea were
persons 65 years of age or older - and even then, around 45% supported it.
