2004 YEAR-END REPORT / MEDIA UPDATE

And the Advocates' most

successful media year ever!

Dear friend of liberty:

More good news! Last year was a breakthrough year in media coverage!

In 2004, we got more media attention than we ever have in our history. There were stories about the Advocates and the World's Smallest Political Quiz on television, on the radio, in newspapers, on Web sites, and in magazines.

Why the surge? Many reasons. It was because we offered an intriguing political quiz during a hotly contested presidential election. It was a payoff for the years of work we did to build the Advocates. And it was Bill Winter's media outreach.

All that resulted in millions of people hearing about the Quiz and about our libertarian message.

Our most impressive "hit" was in Great Britain's most respected and influential newspaper -- the Sunday Times of London.

After a 45-minute interview with Bill Winter, the Times of London reporter wrote an October 24 article that said the World's Smallest Political Quiz "is proving a revelation in Britain and America. For many it has exposed their true political leanings for the first time."

And the reporter called the Advocates "one of America's leading libertarian educational groups."

Wow! Talk about a credibility-building article!

There were dozens more like it during the year. We don't have room to print them all, but here are a few of our favorite things written about the Quiz in 2004:

"What's your political bent? Are you on the left? Right? Somewhere in the middle? Try taking the World's Smallest Political Quiz and see where you are. It's fast and kind of fun." -- The Sacramento Bee (October 22, 2004)

"[An] irresistible political quiz. Find out why it's so popular." -- Channel 7 NBC-TV, San Diego (July 8, 2004)

"The World's Smallest Political Quiz [is] my favorite part of the site. It can really tell you something about yourself." -- Joe Zorbino, The Daily Mississippian, University of Mississippi (June 22, 2004)

"You may be surprised at the accuracy of the results!" -- Paul & Layne Cutright, Enlightened Partnership Newsletter (October 1, 2004)

"If you're still on the fence, there's a quiz you can take to help find your political identity." -- News 8 TV, Austin, Texas (July 30, 2004)

"Just might be the easiest and most painless way ever to determine what your philosophy is. In no time at all you'll have a pretty valid indicator of whether you're liberal, conservative, centrist, libertarian or authoritarian." -- Kevin Saylor, The Knoxville News, Tennessee (January 23, 2004)

The Quiz was also touted by talk show host Kim Komando (heard on 400+ stations), and discussed by Dave Daniels & Dina Michaels on WDBR Radio (Springfield, Illinois). It popped up on Politics101.org, Yahoo News, PoliticsOnline.com, and more.

We even got covered in two Spanish-language newspapers. This is great news because it means we're reaching the USA's growing Hispanic population with our "libertario" message.

This media success in 2004 is important because the media is our megaphone... It allows us to reach millions of people!

And the big burst of media attention drove thousands of people to our Web site during that record-setting online Quiz surge.

In 2005, we want to get even more publicity for liberty and for the World's Smallest Political Quiz. We want to send out more press release, and schedule more interviews.

But media outreach costs money. We're hoping you'll step up, and give us the support we need to take our message of hope and liberty to additional millions of people in 2005.
