We
Can't Do It Alone
At
the root of every political issue is one simple question: Who decides?
In other words, do you as an individual decide? Or does a politician decide?
Based on your
answers to the World's Smallest Political Quiz -- and your libertarian
score -- we can guess how you answer that question. Chances are you believe
that you, not the government, should be making most of the important
decisions about your life, your finances, and your family. It's that belief
in individual rights and responsibilities that makes you a libertarian.
But while the essence of liberty is simple, there are complicated real-world
political implications to libertarianism. And liberty can be a difficult
concept to explain to people who were raised on the idea that only government
can solve every problem.
That's why the Advocates exists. We're dedicated to spreading the word
about libertarianism, in a nonpartisan way. And we're the only organization
that specializes in teaching libertarians how to more effectively communicate
the benefits of liberty. We've got an array of targeted tools to accomplish
those tasks:
• The Quiz. You just took it. So you probably understand
why we call it our "political lightbulb." When people encounter
it, they have a dazzling flash of understanding -- no matter what their
score is. The Quiz, with its expanded political map, destroys the myth
that politics is a bleak choice between liberal and conservative. For
millions of people, the Quiz puts libertarianism on the map for the first
time.
• The Liberator Online. When people score
libertarian, where do they go? Many sign up for our Liberator Online
e-newsletter. Every two weeks, they get a lively dose of insight and news
from a positive libertarian perspective. They get reports on the latest
outrage committed by government busybodies. They get fast answers to the
tough questions about libertarianism. They even get news about the latest
celebrity who proudly declares, "I'm a libertarian."
• The Liberty Store. Many people, when they discover
they're libertarians, want to learn more. They want to read a book, or
listen to an audio tape or CD, that explains the philosophy of liberty
in greater detail. Some want to hand out printed copies of the Quiz to
their friends. Some want to learn how to persuasively explain libertarianism
to other people. Our Liberty Store offers all that, and more.
 The
Advocates works hard to spread the word about liberty. But we can't do
it alone. That's why a big part of our mission is to furnish people with
the tools they need to spread the word, too. Our goal is to build
a grassroots army of activists who can reach millions of people, one individual
at a time.
