A Difference!
Want
to change the world? You can start by supporting the unique and valuable
work of the Advocates for Self-Government. We're at the cutting edge of
a worldwide movement to encourage liberty, self-responsibility, and limited
government.
Through our tools, programs, and publications, we reach hundreds of thousands
of people every year with the ideas of liberty. In the process, we encourage
and strengthen the kind of grassroots activism that must be done if the
ideas of liberty are to win.
In fact, we're got a three-step plan for building a stronger, more successful
liberty movement:

1) We interest people in the ideas of liberty. Our most
irresistable tool is the world-famous World's Smallest Political Quiz.
It's been seen in newspapers and magazines, used in college and high school
classrooms, heard on talk radio, and featured at thousands of Web sites.
Over 4 million people have taken the online version of the Quiz, and over
7 million printed copies have been distributed. Every time someone takes
the Quiz, a lightbulb goes on. Suddenly, they realize that politics is
more than "Left versus Right." Suddenly, they realize that libertarians
occupy an important place in the political ecosystem. Letting people know
that libertarians exist, and where we fit on the political map, is the
crucial first step. Everything else flows from that.
We want to publicize the Quiz even more. We want to run eye-catching,
mind-opening ads in America's most popular political magazines (from the
Weekly Standard to Mother Jones), to reach millions
of politically aware citizens. But that costs money -- money we don't
have.
2) We help interested people understand and embrace the libertarian
philosophy. We start with the world's largest libertarian email
newsletter, the Liberator Online. Over 65,000 people in 100 countries
read it. Then, we steer people to www.libertarianism.com, our acclaimed
introductory website. There, they get persuasive definitions of libertarianism,
a libertarian FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), libertarian positions
on the issues, lists of libertarian books and Web sites, and much more.
It's a kind of "Libertarianism 101" -- and its graduates go
on to swell the ranks of the liberty movement.
We want to reach more people with the Liberator Online, and drive
more traffic to www.libertarianism.com. We'd love to run banner ads on
the Internet, expand our media outreach to newspapers and magazines, do
more talk radio, and reach more teachers and college professors. But that
costs money -- money we don't have.
3) We enable new libertarians to become highly successful in spreading
libertarian ideas. That starts the cycle over again, with ever-increasing
numbers.
We're
the world leader in teaching people how to effectively communication the
ideas of liberty. We host seminars -- like the acclaimed "The Art
of Libertarian Persuasion" -- around the country. We distribute training
audio CDs and tapes. We publish books and magazines. These tools teach
libertarians how to answer tough questions, how to give more powerful
speeches, how to avoid common communication errors, and more. In short,
we teach libertarians how to succeed at spreading libertarian ideas.
Our goal is to offer even more resources. More seminars in more states.
More publications, and more audio tapes and CDs. More books. Every libertarian
we train in the techniques of effective communication will go on to reach
dozens -- maybe hundreds or thousands -- of people. But that costs money
-- money we don't have.
You just took the World's Smallest Political Quiz. You scored libertarian.
That means you probably share our goals. And you value freedom. And you're
the kind of person who makes your own decisions. And you're willing to
work to get what you want in life, and not wait for a government program
to hand it to you.
That's why we hope you'll decide to help us. We value freedom, too. We're
willing to work hard to spread the good word about liberty. If we succeed,
we'll get the kind of country -- and eventually the kind of world -- we
both want: More peaceful. More prosperous. More dynamic. More cooperative.
More responsible. And most importantly, more free.
Remember, the Advocates is nonpartisan. We're not affiliated with any
political party. We'll work with any person, from any political party
(or no party at all), who shares our goal of expanding human liberty.
