"I am relatively new in my awareness of politics and political philosophies, and am learning an enormous amount through reading The Liberator Online and your other material. An item about taxation in 'Ask Dr. Ruwart' makes me wonder how government can fund valid functions if taxation (income, levies, tariffs) are removed. Can you point me in the right direction?"

"Libertarians believe that the only valid functions of government are, at most, the provision of police, courts, and national defense. These could be paid for by user fees and other voluntary methods. The services now provided by government cost half as much on average when provided by the private sector.
