Position Overview
As the Editorial and Content Lead, you will oversee the editorial direction, content creation, and aggregation processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality content across our platforms. This role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for storytelling, a keen eye for good content, and the ability to manage multiple editing projects simultaneously. You will work closely with partner organizations, manage content acquisition, liaise with a stable of writers, and take the lead in creating original and compelling content that resonates with our audience.
Key Roles and Responsibilities

Aggregation Editor

- Cultivate relationships and agreements with partner organizations, Creative Commons, Substack, and other external partners to aggregate content effectively.
- Manage the aggregation process to ensure a steady stream of relevant and engaging content for our audience.

Original Content Editor

- Commission original content, which includes ideation, production, and editorial oversight.
- Liaise with writers, ensuring their work aligns with our brand and audience interests.
- Maintain the highest editorial standards for all content, including editing and using proofreading software to ensure accuracy, coherence, and engagement.
- Write at least two original articles per month.

Social Media Copy Writer

- Develop and implement a social media content strategy that aligns with our overall editorial goals.
- Write compelling copy for social media
platforms, ensuring a consistent tone and brand voice.

Graphics

- Acquire images or collaborate with other team members to get graphics and visual content that enhances the written content on the site and social media.

Metrics
- Frequent coordination with Metrics Lead for continuous review of content performance and meeting/exceeding organizational goals around customer engagement pathways.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Journalism, Political Science, English, or related field preferred. Otherwise demonstrate your ability in writing, thinking, and editing.
- Proven experience in content creation, editorial roles, and content management, preferably in a leadership position.
- Strong understanding of content aggregation tools and processes, as well as copyright laws related to content sharing.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a portfolio of published work.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS) and social media platforms.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with partner organizations and external contributors.
