Milton Friedman (1912–2006) was a Nobel Prize–winning economist, prolific author, and one of the 20th century’s most influential advocates for individual liberty and limited government. A professor at the University of Chicago and founder of the Chicago School of Economics, Friedman championed free markets as the most effective and ethical means of organizing society. His books Capitalism and Freedom and Free to Choose helped bring libertarian principles into the mainstream, arguing that economic freedom is essential to political freedom. Whether promoting school choice, challenging central banking, or opposing the draft, Friedman relentlessly made the case for voluntary exchange and the dignity of personal responsibility.
