about the Quiz for Palms Catamount Software Announces Release
of World's Smallest Political Quiz ESSEX VT: Catamount Software announces today the release of The World's Smallest Political Quiz (WSPQ), for Palm Powered™ handheld computers. WSPQ is adapted for the Palm OS from the Advocates for Self-Government's world-famous political quiz. It’s fast, fun -- and surprisingly accurate.
Users are presented with five questions about personal liberty issues and five questions about economic liberty issues. Their answers are then instantly plotted on a 2-D graph to show the user's political leaning. Each section of the graph can be tapped to give more information about the particular political philosophy (libertarian, left-liberal, right-conservative, authoritarian, and centrist). Quotes from famous individuals on these issues are also included. “The World’s Smallest Political Quiz is used in classrooms across the country, has been translated into several languages, and is regularly printed in newspapers, magazines and books,” says Sharon Harris, president of the Advocates for Self-Government, creators and distributors of the Quiz. "Over 2,000,000 people have taken the Quiz online, and over 6,000,000 card versions have been distributed. People love the Quiz because it provides a more accurate and more inclusive “map” of the world of politics. We’re delighted that Catamount has produced the Quiz for Palm Pilots, making the Quiz accessible to even more people. "It is so much fun to beam the Quiz to people! And it’s even more fun to see their faces light up as they enjoy taking the Quiz, sharing it with their friends, and having that ‘Ah-ha!’ experience of seeing where they really fit on the political map."" "We created the first handheld version of the Quiz in 1998 for Apple's Newton OS to be used at county fairs," said Hardy Machia, president of Catamount Software. "The Quiz generates a lot of discussion and is a real eye-opener. Pass it around at a party or dinner to start up lively conversations for the rest of the night." WSPQ requires Palm OS 2.0 or newer, and it takes advantage of Palm OS 5.0 high-resolution screen support. WSPQ is free to distribute and use.
