If something is wrong for you or me, it is also wrong for the cop, the soldier, the mayor, the governor, the general, the Fed chairman, the president. Theft does not become acceptable when they call it taxation, counterfeiting when they call it monetary policy, kidnapping when they call it the draft, mass murder when they call it foreign policy. We understand that it is never acceptable to wield violence nor the threat of violence against the innocent, whether by the mugger or the politician.
A longtime advocate of individual liberty and Austrian economics, Lew Rockwell founded the Ludwig von Mises Institute in 1982 and continues to serve as its chairman. The institute has become a major hub for scholarship in free-market economics and classical liberal thought. He played a central role in the development of paleolibertarianism, working closely with economist Murray Rothbard to promote a vision of liberty rooted in private property, voluntary association, and cultural tradition.
Earlier in his career, he served as chief of staff to Congressman Ron Paul, helping to advance libertarian ideas within the political sphere. Through his widely read site, LewRockwell.com, he amplifies voices that challenge central planning, militarism, and the growth of the surveillance state. His work reflects a consistent and deeply principled opposition to state power in all its forms.
