I believe that politics is way too intense. That’s why I’m a libertarian. Politics gets people angry, destroys relationships, and polarizes peoples’ vision: the world is us versus them; good people versus the other. Politics is about interfering with other people’s lives without their consent.
An entrepreneur and influential venture capitalist, Thiel is known for his early support of Ron Paul and funding the Seasteading Institute to explore alternative models of governance. He co-founded PayPal and Palantir and was the first outside investor in Facebook. Thiel has championed technology as a means of advancing freedom and bypassing bureaucratic stagnation. Though he later moved beyond strict libertarianism and backed populist figures like Donald Trump, he remains critical of conformity, centralization, and global homogenization, continuing to advocate for independent thinking and action outside the mainstream.
Sidebar: In 2011, Thiel launched the Thiel Fellowship, which offers young people $200,000 to forgo or leave college for two years and pursue bold entrepreneurial or innovative projects instead. The program reflects Thiel’s skepticism of traditional higher education, which he considers overpriced and overrated.
